In this blog I will explain What is Market Process Management (MPM) for Utilities.

SAP Market Process Management (MPM) is a solution designed for utility companies to model and optimize their business market processes. It help’s to effective monitoring of market activities and enables seamless data exchange between SAP systems and non-SAP systems. MPM solution comes under the SAP ISU — IDEX (Intercompany and Data Exchange) that explores the B2B processes involved in the deregulated electricity market. MPM is a framework that allows us to design and customize according to our business needs.

MPM framework can be designed by two process:

  1. Workflow
  2. Steps configuration

Advantages of Using Market Process Management for Utilities.

  • Model Business Process as per the requirement.
  • Check the Business Validation.
  • Deadline the Market Process( To Wait at PDOC for certain time).
  • Can raise an BPEM (Business Process Exception Management) for Exception Handling.
  • Can send Outbound Response to the Market Provider.

What is IDE?

A key functional area of SAP for Utilities that supports cross company exchange of data based on international standards such as EDI, XML.

To set up the MPM framework, we need IDOC (Intermediate Document), the standard SAP format for electronic data exchange between systems. IDOCs enable smooth communication and data transfer, which is vital for operational efficiency. These IDOCs are then used to create PDOCs (Process Documents), which detail and document each step of a specific process(which is designed). At process document we can see the Exception Handling, Logs, Market Process Process with Status ,Supplier Details and BMD(Business Master Data).

SAP Transaction Code

  • To Model the MPM framework SAP Transaction Code: /IDXGC/ DISP_CUST.
  • To Monitor the Process Documents for Both Inbound and Outbound Process SAP Transaction Code: /IDXGC/PDOCMON02 or /IDXGC/PDOCMON01.
  • To Trigger Inbound IDOC SAP Transaction Code: WE19.
  • To Check the IDOC Status SAP Transaction Code: WE02.
